Carrier Oils to Use with Essential Oils

I’ve published several pieces on essential oils and while I note in the articles the importance of using carrier oils with essential oils to prevent skin drying and damage, I realized I haven’t posted this list.

Here’s a list of common carrier oils and what they are good for. All these oils can be purchased in stores or online.

Apricot Kernel Oil: Good for face moisturizing oils, body butters, eye creams and wound healing oils.

Argan Oil: Good for moisturizing hair, skin, and nails; reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Avocado Oil: Good for eye creams, body butters, hair conditioners

Castor Oil: Good for hair care products, soaps, lotions, and lip balms.

Coconut Oil: Good for hair care products, moisturizing skin care products, antibacterial salves, and ointments.

Evening Primrose Oil: Good for soothing and moisturizing hair, skin, nails and helps elasticity.

Grapeseed Oil: Good for mature skin care products, smoothing wrinkles, fine lines and toning the skin.

Hemp Seed Oil: Good for acne/oily skin, deep conditioners for hair.

Jojoba Oil: Good for facial moisturizers, body butters, and lotions.

Olive Oil: Good for healing salves, body butters, shaving creams, and hair conditioners.

Pomegranate Seed Oil: Good for boosting collagen, enhances skin elasticity, reverses skin damage and scarring. Can be expensive.

Pumpkin Seed Oil: Good for maturing and aging skin, healing stretch marks, scars, wrinkles, body butters, facial moisturizers, and deep conditioners for hair.

Rosehip Seed Oil: Good for scars, stretch marks, softening and moisturizing skin, smooth wrinkles, and fine lines.

Sweet Almond Oil: Good for salves, lotions, creams, healing oils for wounds and, facial moisturizers.

Tamanu Oil: Good for hair and skin products.
