Is TikTok Monetization Worth Your Mental Health?

Becoming a content creator who earns money can be expensive. You spend on ads across platforms hoping to turn your work into profit.

Right now, I make money on YouTube and Medium. I almost got caught up in TikTok’s monetization programs, but I had to pull back.

Everybody loves TikTok until they don’t. I’ve been sharing ambient renders I crafted, along with cocktail recipes and essential oil mixes. Gaining a decent following was great, but once I hit 10K followers, I became eligible for nearly all TikTok’s monetization programs.

I pressed the button to join the Creator Fund.

At first, I felt excited because I love sharing my content. But that excitement quickly faded when a video I made was labeled unoriginal and didn’t qualify for TikTok monetization.

“This is fine” I said to myself.

And you know what I did next?

I quit the program almost as soon as I joined. Why? I’m not going to stress myself out trying to satisfy a TikTok algorithm that I don’t understand. The stress isn’t worth it, and I see too many content creators facing the same issue with monetization.

Worrying about the number of views, CPM, and RPM can quickly make you dislike content creation. When it comes to video views…
